1) Cervical Traction

cervical traction atlas therapies

Cervical traction is a highly effective, painless modality used in the management of spinal trauma and disc-related pain management. It is no longer advised to use the outdated head halter and door pulley units that grossly pull on the head and neck.

2) Intersegmental Traction

This is a roller massage table that utilizes heat, vibration, and spinal intersegmental traction atlas therapiestraction to relax muscle spasm while addressing spinal fixation and increasing joint motion. The traction increases blood flow and hydration to the discs and soft tissue.

3) Myofascial Release

myofascial release atlas therapies"Fascia" is the interwoven connective tissue that surrounds muscles and internal organs. Myofascial release is a therapeutic stretching technique that works to release restrictions present in this fascial tissue. A handheld “vibracusser” instrument provides vibration and osicilating forces that address and reduce the identified muscular spasm, fascial trigger points, and adhesions.

4) Flexion Distraction

The flexion distraction technique at one time was the most widely describe the imageused manual intervention for mechanical low back issues related to disc issues and injuries. Dr Nygaard uses a specialized table that attempts to isolate the area of disc involvement. The treatment distracts the joint segment as much as possible, while attempting to relieve the pressure on the nerve. Flexion distraction is generally helpful in mobilizing joints. However, it does lack the capacity to decompress a disc or create any longterm rehydration of the disc.

The only way to decompress a disc is through spinal disc decompression treatment, which is offered in our office.

5) Cold Laser

cold laser atlas therapies

Cold laser reduces inflammation and speeds cellular healing by utilizing a photon light energy. The energy spectrum of the cold laser dramatically enhances the body’s ability to regenerate new tissue and excrete the toxic byproducts of inflammation. This results in pain relief, restoration of tissue health, and increased function.
