Chiropractic Adjustments - the Most Important part of Your Care

An adjustment is an application of force to a spinal vertebrae segment. The intention of the adjustment is to correct any biomechanical issues related to the misalignment. Joint fixation may be causing pain or other nerve system problem. Dr Nygaard does not pop, crack, or twist the spine or spinal joints. The Atlas Othogonal adjustment , which corrects subluxation at the base of the skull, is a painless, precise application of 3 lbs from a floor mounted instrument table. We also utilize the Pulstar adjusting instrument which is also noninvasive, and pain free in its correction of subluxation.

Our patients often report a pleasant sense of lightness and well-being directly following their chiropractic adjustments.

Atlas Family Chiropractic  Techniques

Atlas Orthogonal Chirpractic

Dr Nygaard practices using the advanced chiropractic specialty, Atlas Orthogonality. Atlas Orthogonal is a precise system that initially evaluates specific biomechanical distortion patterns evident at the base of the skull, the atlas and the balance of the spine.

Pulstar

Dr Nygaard does not manually pop or twist the spine or spinal joints. He also utilizes a computerized instrument, The PULSTAR. The PULSTAR delivers specific chiropractic adjustments to spinal segments while never twisting or popping joints.

Spinal Disc Decompression

Spinal disc decompression is a recent advancement within the chiropractic profession.

Spinal decompression is a painless, gentle approach to addressing disc bulges and herniations, either in the neck or low back. Spinal decompression is often effective with very serious conditions where chiropractic has either failed or is not a treatment option.

Supportive Therapies

We also offer on site physiotherapy including:

Cervical traction: Cervical traction is highly effective, painless modality used in the management of spinal trauma and disc related pain management. It is no longer advised to use the outdated head halter and door pulley units that grossly pull on the head and neck.

Intersegmental traction: This is a roller massage table that utilizes heat, vibration and spinal traction to relax muscle spasm while increasing and improving spinal fixation and motion. The traction increases blood flow to the discs, and soft tissue

Flexion distraction: The flexion distraction technique at one time was the most widely used manual intervention for mechanical low back issues related to disc issues and injuries. Dr Nygaard uses a specialized table that attempts to isolate the area of disc involvement. The treatment distracts the joint segment as much as possible, while attempting to relieve the pressure on the nerve. Flexion distraction is generally helpful in mobilizing joints. However, it does lack the capacity to decompress a disc or create any long term rehydration of the disc. The only way to decompress a disc is through spinal disc decompression treatment which is offered in our office.

Cold laser: Cold laser reduces inflammation and speeds cellular healing by utilizing a photon light energy. The energy spectrum of the cold laser dramatically enhances the body’s ability to regenerate new tissue and excrete the toxic by products of inflammation. This results in pain relief, restoration of tissue health and function.
